Kalka Shimla Railway

World Heritage Site:
The Kalka Shimla Railway represents an exceptional technical achivement in the development of the Himalayan Mountains because of its length,its altitude and the difficulty of the terrain through which it runs in difficult tropical climate conditions.It covers a distance of 96 Km. through 102 tunnels and 869 bridges and was commissioned on 9th Nov. 1903 .The release of this Special Cover commemorates dedication of Kalka-Shimla Hill Railways as a "world Heritage Site."
